BACK IN BUSINESS People have been asking me for a few years now when we're coming out with a new TVparty book. Well, James Counts and I produced a book in '07 for the late, great Alex Toth and we had so much fun and so many wonderfully excruciating fire fights over the first two we've decided to produce another book. This will be the first in what we hope will be an ongoing series of books that, we hope, will change the way people think about biographies. That's all we'll say now, look for it in November if all goes well. David Bianculli, the TV critic for Fresh Air one of my favorite radio programs, has added some new writers to his roster at TV Worth Watching, so head over there now and waste some time, don't miss Diane Werts take on the Battlestar finale. One of Saturday morning's most fondly remembered series Monster Squad (1976) comes to DVD June 23rd, you can pre-order now. This show holds the distinction of being the only Saturday morning kiddie show to star a future congressman - Fred Grandy (Love Boat) - who ascended to that role just ten years after this one. Here's the show's theme song:

SILLY STUFF WHILE I RECOVER I don't know about you, but I could use a few laughs. From The American Scene Magazine, let's enjoy the comedy stylings of Crazy Guggenheim & Joe the Bartender aka Frank Fontaine and Jackie Gleason as they spout bad puns and Fontaine sings a tune in that rich baritone voice of his.
Makes you want to run out to a bar and get drunk, doesn't it? Speaking of which, here's Dean Martin and Goldie Hawn from Dean's variety show.

March 22, 2009 - 5:30pm RARE VIDEO Here's a possibly intoxicated Paul Lynde doing the weather on the former WSPD TV 13 in Toledo around 1978 or '79. He's there to promote his appearance in The Impossible Years at a local dinner theater.
This clip was never broadcast, only the folks at the taping got to see this one. The cast of All In The Family, in response to the 1975 'family hour' rule that forced the series to move to another night and a later hour, performed their theme song with pointed new lyrics that would never have met the stricter broadcast standards of the time.

IF YOU'RE IN LA IN MAY YOU CAN'T MISS THIS! Gregg Oppenheimer, the son of "I Love Lucy" creator Jess Oppenheimer, has put together this promotional website that has a list of guests and the schedule. He asked me to help out with a little publicity, which I'm happy to do, considering their super-cool Hollywood guest list.
Gregg is directing several shows at this year's event, which he describes in detail on his blog. He's directing recreations of Burns & Allen, Dragnet and Baby Snooks. The format is fairly similar to the Newark convention, they have panel discussions with the stars, live recreations of shows and a dealer's room for memorabilia. Saturday,
