DEAN MARTIN ROASTS The Dean Martin Show aired on NBC from 1965 until 1974, a bright musical comedy hour with an air of unpredictability - basically because Dean refused to rehearse for the show. There was a looseness to the production that worked well with Dean's infectious humor and smooth singing style, it was a big hit for the network. Let's look back at a few highlights. Dean Martin trades quips and sings his theme song "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" with the great John Wayne on an episode of his variety series.
Watch as the 'Merchant of Venom' Don Rickles rips into an audience filled with stars from an episode of The Dean Martin Show.
Towards the end of the series run and after the weekly show was cancelled Dean Martin hosted 'Roast' shows where he and a dais of celebrities would exchange insults. Great stuff, and the list of stars roasted was a who's who of the greatest talents alive at the time. Frank Sinatra appeared on several Dean Martin shows and as a roastee, here he's scorched by George Burns.
Future President Ronald Regan was another roasteee with Don Rickles doing the honors. Short
