Andy Williams passed away recently, so let's look back on some of his memorable TV moments... that don't involve Christmas!
There isn't a great deal on You Tube for the Andy Williams Show but here's his signature tune, 'Moon River' from 1962. Note the show was broadcast in color but few people actually owned a color set. They were very expensive and not a lot of TV shows were in color in 1962, shows that were, like The Andy Williams Show, appealed to the more upscale viewer. The Beverly Hillbillies, on the other hand, was seen in black and white!
From the mid-1960s, 'Music To Watch Girls Go By' - Did'ya know the tune had lyrics?
And from 1967 another signature tune. I really enjoyed his hipper 1969-1971 series but there isn't much online.
'The Most Wonderful Time of the Year' might be the most overplayed tune during the holidays so I wonder if (or when) a modern artist will do a hit cover of the song and knock off Andy's version the way Eartha Kitt's 'Santa Baby' was blatantly stolen by Madonna.
