3 Best Basketball Movies

Basketball is a great spectacle sport and is very popular in America. The actual basketball games are very entertaining to watch but the appeal of this sport doesn't end with just a game. Films about basketball are also very fascinating and appealing to a lot of people.

Basketball fans greatly enjoy following the matches of their favorite teams and betting on them through Tropicana casino promo code, but they can also feel the same joy by watching great basketball movies.

1- He Got Game
Jake Shuttleworth has accidentally killed his wife during a domestic dispute and is in prison for the last 6 years. His son Jesus Shuttleworth is shown as the star basketball prospect. His love of basketball owes a great deal to his father who was a former player.
One day, Jake receives a very unusual offer from Wyatt (the prison warden). If he becomes able to convince his son to attend the governor's alma mater, then he would receive a week of parole plus a shortened sentence.

The moviereceived quite glowing reviews with many praising director Spike Lee's artfulness and honest connection to human characters. The performances of Denzel Washington and Ray Allen were also greatly praised.

2- Hoosiers
Hoosiers is a stirring tale of heroic sportsmanship about a small-town Indiana high school basketball team. Norman Dale, who once failed at basketball, gets a chance to redeem himself when Hickory High School hires him as a basketball coach.
Despite many obstacles and challenges, Dale performs the incredible feat of inspiring his team to state championship victory. At one point, he gets deprived of his star player Jimmy Chitwood whom his teacher persuades to quit. He also becomes an extremely unpopular figure for his unconventional methods and temper. However, he wins over everybody in the end when he lands the biggest prize for the school.

Hoosiers is a great movie that teaches us all about discipline, teamwork and second chances. The movie also owes its great success to the amazing performances of Dennis Hopper and Gene Hackman. Made on a budget of $6 million, it grossed over $28 million and also received great reviews for the great story and amazing acting.

3- Hoop Dreams
Hoop Dreamsis a marvelous documentary film that tells the story of two African-American inner-city teenagers who dream of becoming professional basketball players one day. Director Steve James has shown the harsh realities of American society and how poverty can be a big obstacle in the way of realizing your sporting dream.
In Hoop Dreams, one character named Gates goes to a wealthy private school while the other named Agee enrolls himself in a local public school due to his financial limitation. Both players have to cope with the big obstacles of drug addict parents, poor grades and family deaths, etc in their journeys to sporting success.

The film was critically acclaimed and was also nominated for the Academy Award. It grossed over $11 million worldwide.
