There's been a lot of scuttlebutt over the internet recently about what a horror it is working for Ellen DeGeneres. Comedian Kevin T. Porter offered donations to charity in exchange for stories about Ellen DeGeneres being 'one of the meanest people alive.' He received some 2,000 replies.
One of the people who texted Porter was Chris Farah who had a run-in with Ellen: "I worked @RealFoodDaily, served her & Porsha at brunch. She wrote a letter to the owner & complained about my chipped nail polish (not that it was on her plate but just that it was on my hand). I had worked till closing the night before & this was next morn, almost got me fired."
Farah had actually been a fan of DeGeneres, having watched both her current talk show and her 1990s sitcom 'Ellen' growing up. "When my restaurant managers sat me down and asked if I had served Ellen at brunch, I was actually pumped because I thought maybe she'd want to use me for a bit on her show," Farah wrote. "I'm an actress and comedian and at that time would have loved a 'break.' But alas, it wasn't that, of course. I was just so surprised she'd take time out of her day to be negative to someone who served her, who was obviously on a lower position than her and also probably an artist of some kind. It was just petty and cruel and shortsighted on her part, and for what? To put out negative and harmful energy to others is toxic."
Allegedly DeGeneres has left her TV crew in the dark over their pay while filming on her chat show has paused. Stories emerged about how sensitive her nose is, "So everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower." Fair enough. Apparently the way has to be cleared before she walks down the hallway accompanied by her ubiquitous bodyguard.
Tom Majercak was a bodyguard hired to protect DeGeneres and her family at the 2014 Oscars, his impression was the star was, “Kind of demeaning. Ellen pretty much just gave me a side glance out of her eye and didn't even say ‘hello,’ or 'thank you for protecting my mother, my wife, and me,'" he said.

Was working on a show @ WB that was next to her stage. Was our showrunner's 50th Bday. Caterer grilling steaks outside for special fancy lunch. Ellen sent someone over to demand they stop, as she doesn't eat meat. She's the worst.

I have another food one: she polices her crew's lunch orders, nobody allowed to eat fish etc. They would come hide on our stage to eat what they wanted away from her.
If stories are true, each day DeGeneres selects one person on her staff to abuse. "A new staff member was told 'every day she picks someone different to really hate. It's not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she'll be mean to someone else the next day. They didn't believe it but it ended up being entirely true."
