Best of Rocky & Bullwinkle - Vol. 2
Possibly the greatest animated television show of the 1960s returns to DVD in sets that collect the Bullwinkle episodes only and this second volume truly is the best of Bullwinkle and Rocky. Included here is the hilarious 'Whassamatta U,' the epic storyline where Rocky and Bullwinkle enroll in college to play football. Hilarious from start to finish, this is a wonderful satire on university life that still rings true today. That's the beauty of satire like this, it never ages, just gets better with time. You'll also get 'The Treasure of Monte Zoom' where our heroes try to stop Boris and Natasha from getting their hands on a national treasure along with 'Goof Gas Attack' where Rocky and Bullwinkle find that the scholars of the world are reduced to a state of stupidity. Boy, do these animated gems look and sound great on DVD. You even get the old school show openings - but for some reason they've replaced the original logos with a new one. Odd. The animation was always of a limited nature (compared with theatrical cartoons of the era), that's because the Jay Ward Studio wisely put their money into the writers and voice artists. These shorts are infinitely more intelligent than the typical TV cartoon adventures of the day. It's all loads of fun and comes in a very attractive 3-D package. This is one of those products that it's easy to recommend for the whole family. TV on DVD Reviews: |
