on the title to order - huge discounts Dexter
This Showtime thriller grabbed the audience and critics from the start of the first year but just because you produced what just about everyone agreed was a brilliant first season doesn't mean you can hit that sweet spot again. Think of Friday Night Lights which imploded under its own weight. Following what has to be the grossest opening theme of all time you're immersed into the darkly horrific world of a serial killer you'll came to love. Dexter is undisputedly one of the best dramatic TV series around,
star Michael C. Hall has perfect pitch when it comes to subtly delineating
the parallel worlds his creepy character inhabits. As if that weren't enough, there's a full court press to find the serial killer after Dexter's victims are discovered on the ocean floor and his sister gets closer to the truth. The noose tightens in every direction until the rousing conclusion where you'll wait breathlessly to find out what happens next, a most satisfying season ender. Season two is just as strong, if not better, than the first. It's hard to imagine better scripts or finer actors to bring these unimaginable events to life. Even the little kids are good. I'm hooked you will be too, but start with the first season, you don't want to miss a moment. For extras there are 2 episodes of Brotherhood and you can access via the internet a podcast and an interview with Michael C. Hall. From the product description: DEXTER is a crime drama about Dexter Morgan a man who leads a double life as an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department and as an emotionless vigilante serial killer. Taught by his foster father to harness his lust for blood and killing Dexter lives by his own strict moral code - he only kills murderers who can't otherwise be brought to justice. Dexter is a killer who grapples with fitting into society while at the same time he struggles with his inability to feel emotion. The irony of Dexter's life is that he works closely as a blood splatter analyst with the very people who hunt his kind - the homicide department. Dexter's "Regular Joe" front is in full force while working alongside the ill-tempered Sgt. James Doakes who seems to be the only one to sense Dexter's more sinister side and Lt. Maria LaGuerta the head of the division who pursues Dexter sexually with as much force as she would any criminal. While his sister Debra Morgan a tough and determined cop leans on Dexter for personal advice and career advancement the closest one Dexter "connects" with is Det. Angel Batista whose similar attention to detail and taste for forensics almost mirrors his own. While sentiment and feelings elude Dexter he struggles to find a kindred spirit of sorts in his emotionally damaged girlfriend Rita who keeps him grounded in the realities of "normal" life and provides him respite from the dark corners of his mind. The series is based on the acclaimed novel "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay. TV on DVD Reviews: |
