The Outer Limits’ Complete Series Good version of “The Twilight Zone” The DVD set, which was released last October, of the complete original “Outer Limits” series from the mid-1960s provided a good reminder of the exceptional sci-fi/horror/suspense series of that era; “The Twilight Zone” is the best-known example of the genre. The stories in “Limits” are as good as, if not better than, those in “The Twilight Zone.” The triple whammies of being thought-provoking, being in black-and-white, and being an hour-long are likely why “Limits” did not enjoy continued success after its network run ended in January 1965. However, like “Zone,” “Limits” told good stories that are relevant today. “Limits” differed from “Zone” primarily in that it involved more aliens than that show and were slightly more cynical regarding human nature than it. One of the numerous “alien” episodes had a bug-like alien race exiling its prisoners to earth knowing the fate that would await them; another had a swamp creature come to earth on a scouting expedition. An earth-bound plots included ones that had a “Terminator” style plot that involved time travel to prevent the birth of someone who would play a significant role in the future of earth; a similar one painted a bleak picture of evolution that would make any fundamentalist drool. The series also had a version of the Isaac Asimov classic novel “I, Robot,” which additionally inspired the Will Smith film of that name. This one also had elements of “The Terminator” that warned of the dangers of a certain form of evolution. I encourage the true sci-fi fans and classic TV buffs who will definitely enjoy this set to send an e-mail to tvdvdguy@gmail.com. TV on DVD Reviews:
