Park - The Complete Eleventh Season
How a cutting edge comedy like South Park can stay as funny as ever after 11 years is a mystery to me but Matt Stone & Trey Parker have done it again. This season contains some of the funniest and most memorable episodes of all time. As usual the situations are untenable. "Le Petit Tourette" has Cartman faking Tourette's syndrome; in "The Snuke" a Muslim kid joins the class so naturally Cartman goes into full 24 mode with a cameo from Keifer Sutherland. And what they do to Hillary Clinton is eye-poppingly revolting and hilarious. Stan's dad Randy goes on Wheel of Fortune and does the unthinkable in "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson;" and "Guitar Queer-O" is dazzling satire, once again many of the funniest moments come from Stan's clueless father, a cipher for so many modern dads. "D'Yikes!" finds Mr./Mrs. Garrison going Lesbian, striking a blow for gay liberation and Persian oppression while the gang hires undocumented workers to do their homework. The "Imaginationland" three-parter is classic South Park expanded to epic proportions and another reason Butters is my favorite character. "Lice Capades", "Cartman Sucks", "Fantastic Easter Special" (another horrifyingly inappropriate holiday show), "The List", "Night of the Living Homeless" - all winners. Fall on the floor hilarious from start to finish - and this is the first year that South Park is totally uncensored on DVD. In addition to all 14 episodes of the eleventh season you get those fab mini-commentaries for each show. Park: The Complete Sixth SeasonIt's a happy day when a new season of South Park arrives on DVD - and season six contains some of the funniest episodes in the series run so far. If South Park isn't the most hilarious show currently on TV, I don't know what is. It's a work of genius, especially when you consider it's all done with construction paper and a lot of clever writing. Thanks to creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, satire on TV lives! South Park is to the modern age what Mad Magazine was to the sixties. Standout storylines in this DVD volume include the very funny parody of the John Edwards show (remember the guy who supposedly talked with dead people?), Butters as Professor Chaos (with his evil assistant General Disarray), The Death Camp of Tolerance, The Return of Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers (a parody of the LOTR movie), Jared Has Aides and so many other laugh-out-loud favorites. If you're a fan of South Park this 3 DVD set is essential; as a bonus you get the creators offering a mini-commentary on each episode.
