I've previewed episodes 5 and 6 of the second season (already underway) and they are stellar examples of why so many people are saying there is a new golden age of quality shows on television today.
I'm at a loss because these are the first episodes I've seen of the series, there's a lot of backstory I'm not clued into - but I was riveted none the less. I can't wait to grab season one on DVD (not yet scheduled) to catch up with this compelling, multi-layered thriller.
Glenn Close stars as Patty Hewes, a ruthless and breathtakingly domineering attorney. You'll delight as she wickedly demonstrates that she is indeed the sharpest knife in the drawer. As always, Close hits a home run, there's never a false note, she says more with a quiet moment than most actors can with a page of dialogue.
Ted Danson, as one of her adversaries, is more than up to the task in his dramatic role. In fact, the entire cast is razor sharp, the scripts sizzle, the direction is crisp and innovative.
More and more, FX is becoming the hottest cable net for dramas, the best of the best, and Damages is right up there with Rescue Me and The Shield when it comes to tension filled suspense.
Damages airs Tuesday nights at 10:00pm ET/PT on FX.
